Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Youth
Minister Grades 6-12
SUMMARY:
This part-time salaried position (20 hours per week) requires
a confessed born-again believer in Jesus Christ who will establish
membership at Cape Charles Baptist Church and will support and
exemplify the vision statement and philosophy of this body of believers
as it applies to the development of a comprehensive youth
ministry. It requires a person who exhibits a
personal and growing relationship with Jesus, a teachable spirit and a
healthy family life and one whose ministry philosophy and conversion is
in agreement with Baptist beliefs.
EDUCATION:
Minimum of an Associate’s degree or
extensive experience in youth ministry.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A person who is gifted and is called to youth ministry, loves young people and has a passion for outreach and evangelism, both personally and at the ministry level and has a definite testimony of his/her personal salvation experience;
- A person who is an engaging teacher with a strong Biblical and theological background;
- A person who is a self-motivated leader with relational skills with students, parents and staff; and
- A person who is organized and has experience with basic computer skills to include the Windows Office Platform.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
- The Youth Minister will be directly accountable to the Pastor and Deacons.
- The Youth Minister will also be a team player and will work in cooperation with other ministry leaders within the church.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cape Charles Baptist Church
Youth Minister will:
- Create and maintain a prayer strategy for the youth ministry;
- Exemplify a Christian lifestyle as a role model to all youth and counsel youth with wisdom and discernment;
- Schedule and prepare year long curriculum and activities and participate in midweek youth program that includes separate programs for middle and high school youth and some joint programs being sensitive to the unique needs of these two separate groups;
- Recruit, supervise and lead volunteer youth workers;
- Develop youth activities that will encourage discipleship, mentoring and the spiritual growth of teens;
- Evangelize and minister to the lost through outreach activities for the glory of God and His Kingdom;
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings;
- Disciple and mentor youth for ministry and leadership roles, especially finding ways to integrate youth into all areas of ministry as much as possible through mission trips, camps, outreach events, service projects, events within the church body, etc.;
- Direct the use of program materials, equipment, supplies and space;
- Develop youth and hospital visitation to include their participation;
- Develop Youth Missions projects in keeping with the Missions emphasis of the Church;
- Stay current with ministry trends by listening to cds, reading books, periodicals, internet, networking and attending approved conferences;
- Develop relationships with the church youth, their friends, community youth and their families and the area schools and officials;
- Attend and participate in events that take place at area schools or in the community in which youth participate (Hang out where kids are hanging out);
- Work within the budgeted guidelines set forth by the Church leadership;
- Participate in development of future church budgets as pertains to youth ministries and activities;
- Set quarterly goals for the youth ministry and evaluate how those goals were attained after each quarter with your ministry team
