ape Charles Baptist Church earnestly believes in the power of prayer. Above all, we seek to pray with sincerity, honor, and humbleness before the Almighty God. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16).

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Paul advises believers to "pray without ceasing". In verse 18, he says, "In everything give thanks". As Christians, we should be taking everything to God in prayer. Note that Paul did not say "live in an attitude of prayer". Prayer is volitional, and involves action. Prayer is not an attitude. Prayer is therefore an important part of every Christian's life. It's hard - as it should be - to call out certain activities or ministries and say "this is when and where we pray".

Nevertheless, we do set aside certain times, and organize specific activities for group or coordinated prayer. These include:

...and of course, every worship service, Sunday School class, and group meeting we have.

If You Would Like Us to Pray for You, or Someone Close to You

Every Sunday, in the back of every church pew bench, you will find prayer request cards which you can fill out and drop in the offering plate. Your prayer requests can be public (shared within the church congregation, for example in our Tuesday Evening Prayer Meeting) or private. We maintain a weekly prayer list, and your request can be listed or not at your discretion. If you are more comfortable meeting one-on-one to discuss specific needs, our Pastor and our deacons are here to help. We will be happy to take your prayer request in person, in writing, over the telephone, or by email.

You can send an email directly to Pastor Russell Goodrich from our Contact us page. Our address and phone number are listed there as well.

There are literally thousands of guides to prayer available on the Internet. As a starting place, the North American Mission Board (NAMB - the domestic missions agency of the Southern Baptist Convention) offers an excellent selection of topical guides:
